Silly question I know, but has anyone carried 2.4m lengths of timber decking in their galaxy. I have to pick some up tonight and do not want a wasted journey. Sorry but car is at home and I am at work?

I carry timber all the time it will fit between the seats or just fold the rear seats down and recline the passenger seat. Amazing what you can get in galaxy's if you try Ive had a motorbike in mine!

Ive used it as a van since new and carried all kinds of stuff in it when i was doing my self build house.

Careful you do not have to force the tailgate shut on the timber. I did a couple of years ago and it was just pressing against the front windscreen and on the journey home, I suspect the heating caused the timber to expand and my windscreen cracked.

I've carried a 3 metre kitchen worktop in mine - and 3 metre lengths of wood.

Just bung a towel on the dash board and fold your seats (without the head rests) to form a straight line of support to the rear of the car. And also put a towel in front of it in case you brake sharply.

Unless yer built like a brick outhouse you'd need a bit of help getting it in and out though.

often do that by folding near side rear seats down and swivelling the passenger seat with a blanket over it, with the center row middle seat up it stops the wood shifting and you still have room for 3 passengers !!!

Now I can see a use for the swivelling front seats

With all the seats out and the driver and passenger seat pushed forward a bit more than was comfortable I got a 3 seat sofa in and managed to close the tailgate!

Couldn't get the sofa into the lounge but that's another story!!

Cheers.

;) 3.1m lengths of timber will go in just fine, provided the full 'bunch' will go over passenger seat and into foot well. Tailgate then just shuts without touching timber ends. 3.3m WON'T (believe or not...they need 20cm cut off to go in!! which is just a fact I know 'cos I had to take the saw to some 3.3m bits!).

You can stick 'em out the front pass. window...it's real fun trying to punt cyclists off with 'em...it's a bit like up-to-date jousting!!!!

Hubby reckons it was for a car..but cant remember which one!

Thats the trouble with adverts, the ad agency gets so clever that you cant remember what the product was even if you remember the advert.

Seems to defeat the point of the advert to me !!

I don't know though - I reckon there are too many ads on the box and like you I never seem to take in the product for watching the ad.

At least it keeps someone in BMW's & croissants!. :P

I was recently in the US the bloody ads there are on so often they drive you nuts!! It isn't worth watching the telly there !!

today i got a 330 cm (3.3 meter) box in ours (well, a caravan porch thing, that was in a box!)

fold the rear most seats down, and then the two to the left, in the middle row, and the front passenger seat moved forward, back rest as far back as possible, remove head rest, and place pillow on dash.

place whatever it is you are carrying diagonally across the car, and you can fit in a length of up to 330 cm, and i had a small gap between, it and the windscreen.

is also wise to place summet soft at each end of the item you are carrying, so you dont damage the car.

also remember things expand when they get warm!
